Nat Tiffen Receives Award
From Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences
Hauppauge, NY, April 2000-Nat Tiffen, the founder of the Tiffen Company, received a Scientific and Engineering Award at the Academys technical achievement awards banquet held on March 4th at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel. The award came in recognition for the many years Tiffen has provided consistently high-quality filters for motion picture photography. Among movie makers, Tiffen filters are known for their durability, uniform color, and a unique lamination process.
In accepting the award, Mr. Tiffen said, "We are proud to accept this award from an industry that we have worked very closely with for more than half a century. I accept this award on behalf of the Tiffen family and all of the Tiffen employees." Accompanying Mr. Tiffen at the awards banquet were Helen Tiffen, his wife; Steven Tiffen, President and CEO; Ira Tiffen, Senior Vice President of Research and Development; Jack Bonura, Vice President of Sales, and Jeff Cohen, Vice President of Marketing, Motion Picture & Television Division.
This most recent award marks the third time the Tiffen Company has been recognized by the Academy. Previously, Tiffen received two Technical Achievement Awards: one was for innovative product design, and the other was for its unique lamination process which gives complete control over filter color and density. Tiffen also received a 1998 Emmy Award for Engineering Excellence.
The Tiffen Company, founded in 1938 by Nat Tiffen and his two brothers, has a long-established relationship with the motion picture and television industries. Tiffen filters, backed by a ten-year warranty, are used in almost every major movie and TV production around the world.
