Las Vegas, NAB 05-Booth SU7876,
April 18, 2005– Celebrating its 30th year serving the motion
picture and television industry, Steadicam, a division of The Tiffen Company,
will unveil its latest technological advancements at NAB 2005.
Based on the innovative and award-winning features of the Steadicam FLYER
that earned it ‘DV Professional Association’s Best of Show’ at the 2004
NAB, the STEADICAMâ
F-24
FLYERä
Camera Stabilization System now offers further cutting edge technology, by
incorporating a Hi-Definition monitor, ergonomically designed vest and 24-volt
capability. This makes the F-24 the
ideal match with the latest generation of High Definition Cameras, such as the
Sony HDV Model HRD-FX1.

The
24 volt capability of the F-24 Flyer
addresses a key emerging market from one of the most respected names in Film
Camera manufacturers, Arri, and its new Model 235 35mm camera.
The Arri 235 is the first fully featured 35mm camera to weigh less than 15
pounds, and compliments the F-24’s
4-15 pound (2.1-6.8Kg) weight lifting range. These new features are in addition
to the Flyer’s other advanced capabilities. They include its patented
Iso-Elasticä
Articulated Stabilizer Arm, proprietary Arm/Vest Connector and aluminum post
with patented Low Mass Gimbal, all designed by the inventor of Steadicam,
Garrett Brown. The system has the
built in ability to parallel up battery power sources to double the run-time on
12V systems. The Fail-safe system assures either 12 or 24-volt operation. |
The Iso-ElasticÔ
arm is a dual articulated “No-Tools” design that can be adjusted while
supporting the camera. This
patented design allows the Steadicam operator to effortlessly place the arm in
any position. This is especially useful for “lock-off” shots.
The new Hi-Definition Color
16:9/4:3 monitor, provides good contrast from dark to light situations. As a
necessary part of the overall system design, the monitor weight and location on
the sled assures the operator perfect balance and ease of operation. The monitor
has provision for both HDSDI Hi-Definition input, as well as standard definition
NTSC/PAL.
The F-24 now offers its latest state-of-the-art, ergonomically designed
vest with 100% positive vest to shoulder clips and stiff front spar and yoke.
There are positive clamps throughout, steel socket block,
and over-center buckles. The socket
block can be instantly adjusted vertically on the spar for extra lens height,
which is especially useful in low mode position, and easily flipped for right or
left side operating. The vest is
also available in two basic sizes to precisely fit any operator.
Utilizing a proven Low Mass Gimbal
the operator has the ability to capture the fluid movement that only SteadicamÒ
can provide. No-tools precision
camera stage establishes a solid base for the camera and facilitates smooth
adjustment ease from side to side plus fore and aft.
The aluminum post and interface to
the stage form a solid bond to assure no jitter in the picture, as the operator
captures those unique scenes.
The F-24 FLYER System includes a self-instructing SKä
videotape with manual to permit the user to become familiar with the set-up and
operation of the system. It is the latest of the SteadicamÒ Professional models available for cameras from 2 to 45
pounds.
