Hi, I´m Chris!
My dear Domke has an annoying problem; the plastic enforcement in the lid/flap causes holes in the lid. If the sharp corners had been rounded of before inserted in to the flap, there would have been no problems....
I have had it for some 5-6 years, and it has been with me wherever the government sends me. And-it is the best travel company one could ever ask for, it never complains, and never let you down. I use it for cameras and bits & pieces required in the line of duty.

- Does anyone know if the holes could be mended easily?

- Any recommendations for a similar bag — just slightly bigger?

Well, the F802 is similar but a bit larger (takes 4 vertical compartments, about the depth of an F7 Double AF). As to repairing it, not really sure; maybe get a tailor or shoe repair place to stitch another layer of heavy canvas over it; they could probably also rip the seams on the binding tape and restitch them after rounding the plastic reinforcement.
