no backpack attachment points on my F-1x
Hello,
I've got two F-2's (one a real oldie, approaching 30 years) and an F-1x. My newer F-2 (within the last ten years) has the D-rings on the shoulder straps, and the O-rings on the back, making it easy to attach the backpack straps. But my F-1x has no D-rings on the shoulder straps, nor the O-rings on the rear. Makes it very difficult to use with the backpack straps. I bought this bag maybe ten years ago, from a legit dealer. Was there a time when the F-1x lacked these rings? I know I already had the newer F-2 by then, so I was surprised and very disappointed when I first went to use the bigger bag on my back. Is there any way to get this bag brought up to current standard? It's perfectly OK otherwise. thanks, Jim |
Hi Jim,
I'm not sure why the bag doesn't have them as Tiffen has only made Domke bags for the last 8 or 9 years now. I don't believe it would be very easy to add it. The bag would need to be pulled apart and professionally sewn back together to add the peices. I would be concerned about doing that on an old bag. Sorry, Andrea |
Couldn't tell you how old my F1x is, but I'd have to say it's at least 10 years old. It doesn't have D-rings on the shoulder strap attachment points, but I connect my backpack straps to the handle O-rings at the front of the flap. I find it rides better that way. If your bag is like mine, there are also webbing tabs at either end of the top of the back (zippered) pocket; I fed a couple of split-ring loops through there and can use them to attach clips. You could also feed mini-carabiners through the webbing loops for the shoulder strap and connect to those, but I find the front handstrap O-rings work better. At first I clipped the backpack straps to the plastic shoulder strap attachments, but they wore through (and broke) so I just replaced them with the mini-biners.
