Dangerous Metal Buckles
I love my two Domke bags, the F-3X which I carry everywhere and the F2 which I use mainly for portable lighting stuff.
But I sure wish my camera bag didn't have those huge metal buckles. They've whacked my camera several times, and I feel really lucky they haven't yet hit the glass of one of my lenses, or cracked a camera LCD. I've been meaning to have a local shop remove the buckles and swap in plastic Fastex buckles, but I haven't yet found anyone who'll do it. So there's my suggestion -- plastic buckles, at least on those big, swinging straps, please. |
Luggage repair shops will usually be able to help you.

In well over 25 years of using Domkes, I haven't had any problem with the metal buckles; I think you're worrying too much about nothing. You'd have to really haul off and walop something with them to do any damage.
