Should be the same stuff (or very similar) to that used on Barbour gear; if you can find a "horsey" store, they often carry Barbour gear for riders. ISTR Orvis does as well.

If you're referring to the snap hooks on the back seam and the D rings on the front seam, they were originally to allow you to attach the bag to another F-802, or an F-801 (now discontinued) in back,...

There have been changes in the design, but they've been in the size of the pockets, not in the colour of the fabric. My original (very early '80s) F2 has a different (lighter) colour sand than the...

Well, the problem is that wax doesn't harden under sun and heat, it softens. You'll just have to let it turn your clothes into "waxwear" as well, until it's reasonably worn down. Or leave it as...

The multi-compartment inserts now come with movable inner dividers. The FA-211 is kinda big; your lens would rattle around in it. I'd get the 720-220 or 720-230.

They've got an inside photo of the F1x. Notice the space at both ends of the (old style) 4-compartment insert. The F2 would only have half that space available with that insert.

I'd take the F-802 and 720-230 3-compartment insert along with the Post Office Pad. Snap the clip closed and carry the bag in front of you and it's about as secure as anything out there.
